I waited the 3 hours and when I returned they were almost submerged in water. I learned later watching a you tube video that the salt takes the water out. I ran to Food Lion and purchased all my “supplies”. The 12 pint jars were on sale for $9 and I also purchased some pickling spices for $3.49. After that I was good to go! I made sure to have rubber tongs, A MUST! Somewhere along the line I felt like a mad scientist.

Pickle Project
I planted extra cucumbers to do my first try at pickles. I did not expect to have so many so quick! I pulled out 14 cucumbers and still have more half way there! So I found a recipe on cooks.com. I cut all 14 cucumber and sprinkled them with salt..
Sterilizing the jars and then giving them a “hot bath” to seal them seemed like the most work. Not really work just time consuming.
It was all worth it! In the end I made 10 jars of pickles! Costing me about $1.50 each. Next time I am not sure if I will use the Ground Turmeric since it stains. I already had it on hand from my Thai cooking. I will do it again! Next time it will cost me so much less!! The lids are about $3 for 12! Maybe next time try dill!
